7/16/12 Progress

7/16/12 Update Progress

What We Have Accomplished

  • Completed basic programming training in language: background
  • We have begun basic video game development
  • Began thinking of how we wanted to make our final product and decided it should be a co op strategy or puzzle game which require both players to win

What We are about to do

  • Finish the lessons about the program and advanced control features
  • Begin working on and developing our final video game products

Track Objectives

Video Game Therapy

What our track is about:

  • Create a video game which can be used to solve selective mutism
  • Selective mutism: inability for certain people to speak in public or with people in charge
  • By making a co-op game, it will teach people to come to trust others and work well with them
  • Hope to solve any issues with mistrust and can naturally come to socialize with others in game, where it is more enjoyable, rather than a therapy session, where people may not participate since they either feel intimidated or unwilling

What we plan to do:

  • After learning the programming and the concepts behind game development, members hope to either split into two groups or work as one united group
  • Groups will then develop game ideas and begin implementing them to create a full scale game
  • Beta testing and run-throughs of the game will occur to check if any errors are present

How we wish to accomplish our goal:

  • Use of DarkBasic Pro Software (similar to Visual Basic) to create programs
  • Gmail/Google Docs to either collaborate or message and communicate between team members
